Head to nearby places like Santa Monica Surf School, and they’ll teach you everything you need to know. Their instructors are International Surf Association certified and dedicate themselves to giving you the best possible experience. They’ll teach you how to surf, how to read a surf report, work with you on technique, and attend to any questions or concerns you may have. 

Santa Monica Pier

Head to the Santa Monica Pier in the morning to catch some waves, but make sure you always check the surf report beforehand. The sandbar peaks at the south side of the pier, making smaller waves, but an optimal place for beginning surfers.

This beach is a popular spot, especially for beginning or intermediate level surfers. The waves tend to break left and right from the beach, but they are frequent and easy to catch.

Sunset Point at Will Rogers State Park

Surfing at Sunset Point in Will Rogers State Park is an excellent place for intermediate and experienced athletes looking for a challenge. Parking spots here are free but extremely limited.
